In Memory of X'Nara Sena
Dedicated to the memory of all that was. You once told me that you loved every one of the people to whom you offered your heart, deeply and truly. If you wanted to be loved, you never held back the love you were willing to offer in return. And you will always be remembered for every life that you touched.
Off the coast of Greentear, there is an island that is and is not a part of the Shroud. The magic of that deep forest distorts the laws of the Source in strange, improbable ways, and the land is now sealed off to all by thick vines and oddly shimmering mist that hangs heavy over the oceans.Alice once collected treasures and artifacts she had sworn to protect: some simple devices made for the care of her person, for love; and some treasures, little pieces of a loved one's heart, powerful enough to consume the star for love, yet fragile enough to be forever guarded. Now and forever lies the greater part of the very soul of the woman who calls herself Alice Faust. Her greatest treasure was not an object; it was not gold, gems, or artifacts of impossible power, but rather a person. What she had treasured the most was the light that saw her through the darkest parts of the Star. For when she ventured into the forbidden places, from whence few go and none return, the woman she called her girlfriend, Nara, gave her the strength to continue on and through. And even after Alice left the darkness, after her dearest love had been left in that place and thought herself abandoned, her Nara did not give up on her - searching with a heavy heart for the one place she knew, beyond a doubt, that her lover was sure to go. Journeying into the depths of that forest to discover the one with whom she had lived and laughed and cried.Together, they found one another. They sealed themselves off from the Star, pain, and worry, fading into eternity in the arms of the one they loved above all else. Living and fading into legend with a beating heart of darkness, the only measure to mark the time.
"However charming we are, we will never again make Her smile. However funny we are, I will never again hear Her laughter. Everything we do is empty and meaningless without her, and it would be my duty, my pleasure to wipe clean every other meaningless thing from the face of this Star, leaving the ruins as simply one more empty memorial. To Her."The sunrise pretends to be beautiful, even though it is not. Even though it never will be again. Now that it will never be again be reflected within her eyes. And would that I could cleanse this world from the twisted mockery of sunrise that greats me every morning - that doesn't itself understand that it is useless and pathetic and twisted without her."Would that I could join her, follow her through wherever the darkness shall lead into another life. I'd give everything, I will swear to any, to every god, I'd give anything to meet her once again and see that she is safe. And yet I cannot."So I continue forward in her name. Trying to do better, trying to be the person she always saw me as. Stumbling forward through the absolute darkness that she has left in her wake. And I will remember her; I will do what it takes to keep this memory alive until the stars wink out in the sky and every mockery of her brightness is extinguished with time and fate and entropy."I only wish that I could tell her again, just one last time, what it is that she meant. No, what she means to me. Just once. Just one. More. Time."- Alaha Fausthr, AKA Alice Faust
